Overview

Career Horizons specializes in providing expert job search coaching, resume development, and career transition assistance on a private basis, to individual professionals in transition, as well as in outplacement situations where these services are provided to departing employees as part of a corporate severance package.

Corporate Outplacement

With over 15 years of experience in the outplacement field, our staff has helped hundreds of organizations facilitate smooth employee separations and knows how to help both individual executives—as well as larger groups of displaced workers—move forward rapidly and successfully after the shock/turbulence of a downsizing event.

Compared to many outplacement providers, our services are intensely customized and are centered around providing our clients with sophisticated modern job-finding tools, methods, and resources that greatly speed up the transition process--and go well beyond the traditional "career center" model of providing assistance.

Despite a flood of imitators, nobody has yet invented a more powerful website for facilitating career and business networking success than LinkedIn.com. And yet, many people still haven't heard of this revolutionary tool -- or may have joined the site years ago, without really understanding it or learning how to harness its full potential.

In light of these realities, Career Horizons will be hosting an upcoming two-hour webinar dedicated to getting people up and running successfully on the LinkedIn system.  This training, which you can take from the comfort of your own home, is designed for beginning-to-intermediate users and will provide detailed instruction on how the system works, including guidance on how to optimize your LinkedIn Profile, Invite other users to connect, how (and why) to network via Groups, and how to take advantage of some of the other key features and functionality of the site. What's more, we'll be covering a wealth of important pointers on system etiquette that new users often violate, inadvertently.

The cost for this webinar is $75 and following completion of the session, all participants will be e-mailed a full copy of the presentation materials, which include numerous additional networking scripts and case studies that will help you master the site and learn to use it like a pro!

Advanced LinkedIn Workshop

Got the basics of LinkedIn figured out? Looking to practice your skills further and master some of the more advanced and sophisticated aspects of the website?

In this three-hour "laboratory" session (laptop required) we'll go deep on LinkedIn, discuss some of the advanced features we don't get to in the Intro class, and will test your skills using the system through a variety of case studies and practice exercises.  We'll start by reviewing the proper usage of the Answers, Companies, Jobs, and Skills pages, then move on to focus on constructing advanced Boolean searches via the People page that will help you generate referrals with exactly the types of folks you most want to meet.  Beyond that, we'll also be reviewing some key etiquette guidelines regarding the site, will practice writing effective LinkedIn Invitations and Introduction scripts, and will be answering a ton of other questions sure to come up along the way.

The cost for this class is $75 and again, to get the most out of this class, you'll need to bring along a laptop computer (the room will have wireless access) so that you can participate in the exercises, directly, as we go!
